IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE
It
is the policy of the 114th RC Aero Squadron to encourage its members
to show club facilities to visitors and introduce the hobby to interested
individuals. This policy is balanced, however, with the primary needs of the
114th RC Aero Squadron members in good standing to have the best
possible access to airspace and frequencies for their use. But, most
importantly, to ensure that guests conduct themselves safely and in accordance
with club rules, insurance requirements and regulations including the AMA
membership requirement. Accordingly, the Guest Policy has been set as follows.
In
accordance with the provisions made in Article XII “Rules and Regulations”,
paragraphs 1.1 and 1.2, the 114th RC Aero Squadron Board of
Directors has resolved on November 21st, 2004 that:
1.
Any Regular, Family, Associate or Inactive member may bring one (1)
non-member pilot family to utilize the 114th RC Aero Squadron facilities as a
guest. Individuals or groups designated by the Board of Directors as “Guests of
the Club[1]”
are excluded from this limitation. Guests must carry with them a current AMA
certificate in order to utilize the 114th RC Aero Squadron field and
must be willing to provide it for inspection upon the request of any 114th
RC Aero Squadron club member. The 114th RC Aero Squadron member
hosting said guest is fully responsible[2]
for the actions of the guest and will be held accountable in the same
manner as if the actions were made by the member himself or herself.
2.
In order to maintain control of guests using the field, it is now
required that the GATE BE CLOSED AT ALL TIMES except during an official
club sponsored event1. Members are to enter the field and are
responsible2 for locking the gate immediately behind them. Under
no circumstances and without exception shall a non-member be left without a
member present.
3.
To provide a further
mechanism for control, the field will be closed to everyone except members
and guests (per this provision) whenever any member of the 114th
RC Aero Squadron is present at the field. The authorization to do this is
provided for in the lease held with the US Army Corps of Engineers (reference
DACW63-1-00-0783) as follows:
A current club membership card or the official roster (a copy will be located in the frequency control box) will serve to prove membership if called into question. Accordingly, it is recommended that members use their club card in the frequency control box and guests their AMA card.
[1] The only currently recognized guests in this category are those attending a Club sponsored Fun Fly or official Club event, the Santa Cops Toy Fly-in, those participating in the Saturday morning Helicopter training and those participating in the Thursday evening airplane flight training.
[2] Member accountability can include actions as serious as expulsion from
the Club as provided for in Article III, section 1.7.
